Google-led network solution
Google-led network solution, developed under the Android@Home initiative, was presented at the international LIGHTFAIR. Members of the Lighting Science Group have demonstrated a system for managing individual light bulbs in the household using a tablet with Android operating system.
All light bulbs with transceiver form a communication network at 915MHz. Bulbs receive commands from a central system and adjust intensity of light according to these commands. The above low-cost solution is easily implemented into existing household. A new application that assures security in the household uses video to approximate the motion instead of the outdated technology of infrared presence detection. Experts have developed a classification system that would distinguish a man from the dog, and the plan is to develop a system that will allow the user to perform the classification that suits him best. The ongoing development of software solutions for the Android operating system which will facilitate programmers to write applications was mentioned on the fair. All these products will be available on the market by the end of the year. More details can be found on youtube.
