A new system for secure data transmission while maintaining user privacy

CasellesCarlos Jiménez and Dr. Luis Mengual Galán, researchers at the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid's Facultad de Informática, have developed a system for automatic routing control. The system sets the environment for the data transmission while respecting the privacy of user’s identity.

The advantage of the system lies in the safer data transfer and receives. The main application is developed in Java using the Eclipse platform for Microsoft Windows and UNIX operating systems. The system uses the OpenSSL open source solutions to provide protection via cryptographic functions. There is the possibility of implementing security SSL / TLS protocol that provides browsers secure access to web pages that require the transmission of sensitive information. The protocols can be used to create digital certificates to ensure confidentiality of transmitted data. Information transmission system has a built-in network mechanism with implemented algorithm to calculate the optimal routes. The algorithm distributes and updates list of the most effective routes without fear that the number of devices connected to the network will reduce the efficiency of the system. There are more solutions to be implemented in the near future to help improve the security of data transmission. The plan could be achieved using localized networks of classified web services, modeling of demanding computing tasks using neural networks and mathematical solutions, and creating an agent to participate in secure communications. Additional solution include developing the user interface to select network settings, optimizing routing algorithm for use on the Internet or improving the anonymous system for automatic route management into a quantum key distribution (QKD) system.
