A new service for cracking weak passwords has become available at end of September. The service is capable of detecting the type of hashes used and is based on the Amazon AWS platform. This new service can be accessed on its website  PWAudit.com, and is still in beta. Its functionality is based on establishing the type of hash that is presented and then trying all possible combinations that can make up the hash. This is known as a brute force attack.

Although tools and services of this type are common, this new service makes the procedure of cracking weak password much easier. With the increasing number of incidents in today's information systems, experts are trying to motivate system users to use the best possible security measures available. One of those measure is using strong passwords. Services such as this make it easier for security experts to demonstrate to system users how easy it can be to crack a weak password. More information on the service is available on the website Dark Reading.
